Thumbs up Can't decide!

Im debating between Shoei, AGV, or Suomyas my next helmet. I've tried the Shoei X-11 and loved the comfort etc. I haven't tried the AGV nor Suomy. I really don't like any of the Shoei designs though. Does anyone has any experience with the AGVs or Soumys? I've heard a few bad things about both but I don't believe that to be right. Can someone give me some good pointers on what to look for.

Thanx for the help!

i have all three, all top models. the x-11 , the Ti tech, and the spec-1r extreme. all three are top notch helmets. the x-11 vents the best then i would say the ti tech and the extreme vent about the same. the ti tech feels the lightest then the extreme then the x-11. the extreme and x-11 are extremely stable at high speeds when your head is turned. the ti tech is rock solid stable while looking forward but a little shaky when your head is turned. the pads in my opinion are by far the best in the Ti tech. the suomy's paint is super nice quality. All my ti techs are rossi reps so they are also nice but simple paint schemes. the x-11 is also very nice as my two are daijiro kato helmets and have some nice details on them. they are fit about the same on my head i wear a small in all of them but a xs in my arai. You really can't go wrong with any of the lids. I would say try them all on and then make your choice.

-dont buy anything you have not tried on
-ebay works but no scratches, less than 3years old
-the helmet should fit TIGHT, but keep in mind you will have to weat this 3 hours at a time.
-get a light color, black is not cool in the summer heat.
-Shoei helmets you can get factory half size interror liners, all helmets you can remove the inside stuff to wash.
-get a matelic visor tint visor that you can wear day/night, they co$t and scratch easy.
-get a full face helmet, avoid a flip up front, you wnat it light weight.
-someone was saying some Suomy colors fade over time.

all helmets fade over time when exposed to direct sunlight for long durations.

IMHO Comfort is the most important thing amoung top quality helmets. If you are distracted by being uncomfortable you aren't paying enough attention to the road. A helmet that has quick change visors is very nice too. What ever you do don't skimp on your helmet, my Shoei saved my life.

You must try them all on your head. All the helmets fit slightly different on different shaped heads and sizes are NOT the same between brands. Only one AGV has ever worked for me and Suomy is not comfortable for me. Helmet should be nice and tight.

as above, you must go to a ship and try them on. Basically your cheeks should be snug and your chin should not protrud or make contact with the chin guard.

in the UK we have a gold ACU sticker. Any helmet having this has reached the minimum safety standards as set by the BSI. many fail this. but many do, and the price range varies from

X11 is the best helmet I've ever had and I've had a lot of them. I rolled Arais for so damn long that it took a really great helmet to pry me away from the brand.

Please post up your impressions and where you shopped...of course I am interested. I am considering your bike and I am also wondering where to get riding gear and such..

Erick

I have only owned Arai's and have NO experience with any other helmet.
