Default car debugging help - 2001 maxima

I hope this is the right forum for this... (I thought I'd ask here before creating an account on maxima.org)

Two issues with a 2001 Maxima....
1. When starting the car up there is a very loud screeching sound that increases as I give it more gas. This goes away within 30 seconds but just very annoying. Any idea what it could be?

2. The car starts right up each and every time. BUT, immediately bogs down and dies. In order to get the car to stay on, I have to give it some gas.
In order to get it running every time, I give it some gas and hold it at a steady rpm (1k or higher) for about 30 seconds. After that I let go of the gas and car idles normally. This issue doesnt happen if I shut the car off and I turn it back on right away.

I searched the maxima forums already and have a general idea but I thought I'd get some opinions before swaying your thoughts with my findings.

Item 1 sounds like a belt problem (fan, water pump, serpentine or the like), loose or worn perhaps.

problem 1 is definitely a accessory belt problem.

Prob 2: sounds like it needs a tune up. Maybe the cold start idle function is not working properly?

For #2, is the belt screeching when the car dies? Maybe it's the alternator belt that's slipping, so you're not generating enough power to produce a good spark. Either way, #1 should be an 'easy' fix.... so take care of it and see if it helps with #2.

#1 Belt like said above
#2 Could be several items, if it has the 3.0 V6 I'd look into cam/crank sensors or more likely the throttle body/ecm reprogram/replacement.
You should research maxima/infiniti i30 forums or consult your dealer. Some with the throttle body issue require ECM replacement and this gets pricey.
