CBR1000RR
Still haven't found "the deal" yet.
But, I stopped by the dealership yesterday because the girlfriend wanted to check out Honda's 599, and I wanted a look at the 1000 again. Well, while there I sat on the 1000RR and 600RR back to back, and I felt surprisingly much more comfortable on the 600RR. Now I'm all confused!
I need to take them both on a test ride.

You probably felt more comfy on the 600RR since it's skinnier seat section makes the bike feel lower. The Lightness adds a lot to your comfort level as well.
I don't think Honda has 5% holdback either. I think it's 2%-3%. On Our cars it's only 2% (It used to be 3%).

I got the 5% from somebody who posted an invoice report they did of the 1000RRs, and that was listed. No idea if it's legit.
I guess that depends on the riding you'll do. From my experience the 1000's suspension is better on the street than the 600's. Oh yeah, the powerband on the 1000....once you've done it, whew!
It seems the 600's are becoming track bikes...

I plan on stopping by the dealership after work today to negotiate on a 600RR, and a 599 for EgoThreat.
I did some thinking about what I like about cars, and tried to apply that to the bikes. I'm an S2000/Elise sort of guy, not interested in the AMG/M5 scene for example. I go for the light, stiff, sharp sort of vehicle. And I DO plan on tracking the bike. So with the 600 fitting me better, it's just the way to go for me. (Not to say the 1000RR isn't the shiznit, I'm sure it'd blow me away, I just think the 600 would suit me a tad better.)

If you're gonna get a 600 right now, then the 600RR is the one to get. It is built really nice. Yeah, don't expect a deal on it though. You're gonna pay almost the same if not more for the 600RR.
I've heard of a <$9000 OTD deal (includes everything, sales tax, etc.) from Maxim Motorsports up in Allen. Plus Southern Honda in TN is advertising them for $7983. I've read plenty of reports that this dealer is legit. Just pick the bike up from them and they'll honor that price. TTL would be extra to register the bike in texas, but that's not a big deal.
Invoice is $8321 including freight and the dealer gets a 5% of MSRP holdback.
