Chevrolet Avalanche.
I used to have a 2003 Silverado, and it was trouble free for the 100,000 or so miles when I sold it. I've always liked the Avalanche, and now have a chance to get one. The one I came across (have not seen it in person yet) has 180,000 miles, interior is leather and looks very clean. Should I be worried that the truck has 180,000 miles? Asking price is $5900. Anybody has/had one?
Thanks,
Thanks,

A few common issues (shared with the Silverado/Sierra).
- Front end will need to be redone soon, if it hasn't been done already - ball joints, tie rods, probably the pitman and idler arms, etc. It's a few thousand bucks at a shop, probably.
- The 5.3L V8 has issues with the knock sensors in the vee of the engine shorting out due to water ingress. They will need to be replaced eventually and the vee re-sealed. Cost will be a few hundred dollars. You can drive it indefinitely in that condition, with a CEL on.
- I believe it uses the old 4-speed transmission, if it's a 2003, which makes it pretty slow and hampers towing/acceleration. It'll tow fine but nothing like a modern truck/SUV, generally speaking. If you had a 2003 Silverado, it'll be basically the same.

Transmission is as good as gone, and itll inevitably over heat.

FWIW, this is probably an anomaly, but my 1999 Sierra 5.3L Z71 still has the original motor and transmission at 225k miles.
Only repairs have been catalytic converters, fuel pump, starter, and alternator.
I sold it to my bro in-law at 185K miles and it's still going. Truck was never used to tow anything.
