Could it be the real Steve C calling the S too big and heavy on the BAT site?

Nice car, not terrible value for this one.
I’d like to add my two cents:
The engine is strong and addictive, but the car would’ve benefited from 400lb less weight. The 2001 model felt heavy, and is heavy, at 2800+ pounds. That’s about the same as an optioned-up 240SX or any e30 325i 2-door.
The creature comforts and ride are acceptable, especially given the car’s ultimate performance. I’ve never driven one with decent tires; most S2ks out here that aren’t driven by children or enthusiasts have all-seasons. All-seasons destroy the purpose of the car but the fundamental goodness of the chassis shines through the squirmy tread and spineless sidewalls.
Despite the fact it’s a very nice car, I still have a hard time justifying the purchase of one. It’s just too big and heavy; it all works, and works well, but I can’t help but think how much better it’d have been if it was lighter. Of course, I said the same thing about my NA6 Miata, and it weighed in about 600lbs lighter than the S2000. I also said the same thing about the Mini Cooper S…

Good ole Steve C... well, it doesn't get much lighter than the s2000 w/ today's safety standards. Anything under 3000lbs is sufficient for me. Although I would prefer 2500lbs and 300hp as the perfect low cost(sub40k) sportscar.
Lighter?
Yeah right - it's unmatched for weight with that amount of power, chassis stiffness and handling. Seriously, comparing it to a 240SX (1990s, anyone?) or an E30? Those cars are ancient in comparison. Of course, compare to those cars as convertibles (and factor in power and chassis stiffness) and you'll see how good the S2000 actually is.
Dumb post, especially if he's never driven one on proper tires (which probably means he's never driven one in earnest).

I guess in 1999 when the S2000 was announced at 2800lbs, it was a shocker, considering the miata at the time was 500lbs lighter.
Ultimately though, a guy no one cares about, giving his opinion that no one cares about... only to be regurgitated in this forum.

Sure, except the 1999 Miata had 100 less hp (!!!), way less tire and was pretty floppy (comparatively speaking). Hardly a comparable car by any objective standard.

Ignorance is bliss. When I read the comment and noticed that a "Steve C" signed off I chuckled and it reminded me of the good ol days of S2ki.com. When flame wars were 1/2 the reason why I came on to this site. I thought the old school guys would get a chuckle out of the random post, lol, I sure did.
I miss him, and will probably miss EG soon.
I never knew Steve C had owned those cars.
I just knew of his Yellow ITR, his 996 TT, S2000 and I think he mentioned what his wife drove from time to time.
He always claimed he was an idiot who stumbled into a bunch of money. At least he was humble and knew his beginnings.
Someone found him on a woodworking forum, we got a chuckle and moved on. This site has less and less reason to come back to it, mainly because the original owners who could have afforded these cars when they first came out have long gone to other cars, or just don't come to this site anymore.
Now that the younger gen has picked up these cars used, I get a different feel of ownership, so much that I feel that I don't want to get another S2000 because its associated with the typical Honda/Ricer crowd. It just draws attention I don't like. I love chatting with car enthusists, but ones that aren't open minded (younger people blinded by a big H) just irk me.
Miss you Steve C!
