Dumb post, especially if he's never driven one on proper tires (which probably means he's never driven one in earnest).

Ever hear of an Exige S? Boxster Spyder (maybe a tad bit heavier, but close enough)?

I miss Steve C - he had a tendency to stir up shit, but I usually agreed w/ his postings.

At the time I purchased my MY00 S2000, my dad purchased a MY00 Boxster S. 10 hp more powerful, but 100 lbs heavier - it total, nearly exactly as fast in a straight line as my S2000. So the S2000 was certainly in line with its contemporaries (Boxster, Z3, SLK) for power-to-weight. And a lot cheaper.

Heavier and more expensive than a Miata? Yes. But also faster.

He's right about the weight. The car should be lighter. Factory seats are absurdly heavy. What I don't get is calling the car too big. Lol, really? Park a 370Z or a Mustang next to our car and laugh at how they tower over it.

I never knew Steve C had owned those cars.

I just knew of his Yellow ITR, his 996 TT, S2000 and I think he mentioned what his wife drove from time to time.
He always claimed he was an idiot who stumbled into a bunch of money. At least he was humble and knew his beginnings.

Someone found him on a woodworking forum, we got a chuckle and moved on. This site has less and less reason to come back to it, mainly because the original owners who could have afforded these cars when they first came out have long gone to other cars, or just don't come to this site anymore.

Now that the younger gen has picked up these cars used, I get a different feel of ownership, so much that I feel that I don't want to get another S2000 because its associated with the typical Honda/Ricer crowd. It just draws attention I don't like. I love chatting with car enthusists, but ones that aren't open minded (younger people blinded by a big H) just irk me.

Miss you Steve C!
I couldnt agree more, as long as current "true" owners of the sport car/s2k keep theirs clean and properly modified I dont mind owing it one single bit. I dont mind being the old guy in that super clean OEM modified s2000 while the ricers continue on with their water melon shooting exhausts/hella flush wheels.

Uh, price? They're double the cost of an S2000. Again, hardly comparable.

I know its not a roadster, but the FRS would probably be the car he would've loved.

With decreased weight comes fewer creature comforts and decreased structural strength. Ask him which one of these he would be willing to give up to achieve that 400lb weight loss.

Interesting stuff about the S's weight, but I'm still guessing the original intent of this thread was just to signal that Steve C may have been found and he's still a bit feisty (though as I said, maybe mellowed). The second banning recently is ironic in relation to this thread.
