Most of these cars need that hp, because they are very heavy. But yes all of those cars will rape a stock s2k. So dont even try it unless you are pushing some boost. Take the ctsv for example, it's no joke , it has the ls7 with a super charger. Same motor as the zo6. It weighs in at around 3800 lbs, and makes 550 hp at the crank. The s2k weighs in at around 2800. So in order to keep up with one in the S you will need to be putting out around 74% of his hp or around 405 at the crank. This of course is just a power to weight ratio comparison, actual results may vary
Hate to be Debbie details but it's the motor out of the zr1 not the z06.

We love our RS4. It's comfy enough to road trip in, upscale enough to go out to dinner with friends, sure footed enough to make it through the worst Winter days (snow tires, FTW!), and fast enough to destroy uppity wanabe street ricers before we even get to posted speed limits.

It's having your cake and eating it too.

No it's not a sports car. But it's a great all-purpose car if you have room in the budget.

We just bought out our lease today. Get this, the black book value was $10k higher than our residual.

(Disclaimer: we have a fully track prepped SC'd S2000 as well, but I don't want to drive it around town)

These cars try to be everything to all people. Some people like it, some don't.

If it were me, I would rock a gas efficient yet comfy and luxo cruiser for a daily driver like one of your run-of-the-mill Lexus/BMW/MB hybrids, and have something fun in the garage for the weekend track days. (read: exige s260 or a used noble)

Actually most or all those listed handle wonderfully at the track too. These aren't big soft muscle cars that just had a powerful engine dropped in, they are highly tuned/refined for performance in every respect.

I don't really get the OP's post - Fox body Ford vs $60-130k cars? Why not compare it to less expensive sedans that will also kick its ass?

I'm pretty sure all the car in the OP's list will out perform the S2000 at the track given the same driver.

Most of these sedan sports cars are crazy equipped. Alot of these car companys have forgotten what a real sports cars is, they're begin to fall into the middle age fever(21st centry). Having kids and still wanting to own a sporty ride = sedan with awsome power/handling. It may just be me, but the car companys know what the majority of ppl want, everything in a set package. We're in a dying age that will soon be out power by the average looking family sedan. Be prepard to just cruise while the sport sedan over take you on the streets and highway or you can do what I did.......upgrade.......like me to a C6, most every car leaves me alone

not to split hairs, but as presto said, it does not have and LS7. an LS7 is a 7.0L engine and the CTS-V has a 6.2 much like the one in a ZR-1.

as for the big heavy cars. yes they will beat most anything aside from supercars in a straight line as well on most full sized tracks. but they cost a lot more to run. even if all you consider is tires and brakes. they almost always have much wider tires, and the extra weight eats both the tires and brakes at a speedy rate.

though it is impressive to see cars that are both amazingly comfy and fast.
