Default Competition

One day last week I was riding in a friends fox body when what struck me as a complete boat of a lexus absolutely tore our balls off. This little incident reminded me of how much our current day automakers are striving to make outrageous power houses out of large luxury cars and 4 door sedans. It has got to the point that a simple "sports car" just does not compare in a lot of cases to the high horsepower sedan market that has evolved. I wanted to just list a couple of these models and let everyone see what kind of "competition" is out there, hence the title. I posted this in this section because it is where the vast majority of the websites go-fast folk lurk, but please forgive the pointless demeanor behind the thread .

Lexus ISF: 416bhp

Merc C63 AMG: 481bhp

BMW M5: 500bhp

Audi RS6 Wagon (have a gander at this sh!t): 580bhp

Porsche Panamera: 500bhp

Cadillac CTSV: 550bhp

It's amazing how fast stock cars are these days as an average, compared to 10 years ago

Most of these cars need that hp, because they are very heavy. But yes all of those cars will rape a stock s2k. So dont even try it unless you are pushing some boost. Take the ctsv for example, it's no joke , it has the ls7 with a super charger. Same motor as the zo6. It weighs in at around 3800 lbs, and makes 550 hp at the crank. The s2k weighs in at around 2800. So in order to keep up with one in the S you will need to be putting out around 74% of his hp or around 405 at the crank. This of course is just a power to weight ratio comparison, actual results may vary

Yes the weight is what was going through my mind while making the post but these cars' power/weight ratio is still superbamous . Our car will still bust ass in the corners over most of the contenders and is rather cost efficient I must say. I just thought it was hilarious when this massive behemoth car blasted past him. His expression was something of the " " sort

I'm building a 100% track car. I sold all my street toys. Time to step up and not put other peoples life in danger.

Just curious, why did you randomly switch sedan size? IS-F and C63 AMG are M3 competitors, whereas everything else are more M5 competitors (executive sedans? I don't know the correct name).

It is pretty interesting, though, that aside from the Corvette and 911, there really aren't too many "sports cars" that can keep up with these sporty sedans. (I'm not counting supercars, of course.)
