sheesh

I love how now that another NSX driver is coming in disputing some of their haughty claims for this car with his own experience and knowledge, they're getting on his case.

All this and yet still not one NSX critic here, including myself, said anything about the NSX being crappy.

Most people experience ~350whp with oem exhaust with that SC. ~365 with headers and exhaust. Of course that adds $3k to the price. Either way it's not what most would consider ALMOST 400 hp. Additionally, the power only marginally comes on around 4k rpm's, and is not really noticable until 5K. The manufactures early claims of close to 400hp were achieved because the piggyback ECU did not retard timing correctly. That caused numerous engine grenades, including mine.

having just spent a day with my uncle while visiting family here in minnesota, i got a chance to drive a handful of his cars. so, yesterday i got to drive a red 2001 NSX, black 2004 911 turbo cabriolet, red 1998 viper gts, and a red 2004 corvette c5. and long story short, i spent aout 6 hours with these cars driving around the rural roads of east st. paul, and i can say that even though the nsx is greatly underpowered, it is still very nice to drive, very smooth, awesome gearbox, awesome handling, awesome noise it makes, and awesome looks. of course it didnt have the kick of even the C5, but it would make a very nice semi-exotic that you could drive everyday (which he does a lot of the time).

Exactly.. You have been.

Funny, I have found over the years that there is a very loud very small minority of people who hate on the NSX in Honda forums. I think I've learned to attribute it to a need for attention more then anything.

If I had money to buy an exotic to drive daily, the NSX would most certainly be on the list. Other than the Vette, it's hard to think of a more civil and reliable daily runabout.
