my son said too say more so,
i had received an invite, well over a month ago, to test drive a cadillac cts-v coupe during a promo event this past sat. at laguna seca. look up cadillac cts performance test lab, or something like that. its a four hr session of in car and class room type talks about driving and or the performance components of the car. they are doing this all around the country at different tracks. the cts-v is everything they say it is. fast going and stopping and can definitely handle its self around a seires of twisty roads at speed. the event has 8 cts-v coupes (556hp supercharged v8) and 8 cts coupes (304 hp v6 base model). 3 groups of 14 participants rotate through the different stages. 2 stages are done in the v coupe, straight line hard acceleration/ hard braking then into a slalom course and 3 laps on track, 2 of which you drive at speed with the driving instructor. in the cts, you get to drag race each other 3, 4 times( won 2 tied 1 lost 1) and do the same number of passes at a straight line hard acceleration into hard braking lane change. you basically get to trash the cars, brakes, tyers and test the bravery of the instructors ( 2nd lap went into turn 1 to fast).
I have too say that I'm very impressed with the engineering and construction of both models. For me it would be the cts wagon, don't think I really need 556 hp under my foot every day but it was FUN.
also i thought this event would be more sales oriented but there was none, no sales pitch what so ever, just info and driving. i've own 2 gm vehicles, a used 68 pickup and a used 73 impala wagon, both were okay.

That sounds realy cool. Have to look it up. The last ten years Cadillac has really come out with some great cars. The ones before that were pretty good, but they've gotten even better.

As a basis for comparison, what level of racing / driving have you done in the past? What is your most powerful vehicle owned to date?

I can speak only for myself but considering I've only OWNED a car with 240 hp, it's easy for me to be impressed by vehicles with a lot more power or grip. That doesn't make them necessarily "amazing", just "more amazing than what I'm used to driving." I've been in cars with power-to-weight ratios that rival a Veyron (purpose-built tube-frame track cars with 600 hp and 2400 lbs) that blew my mind. I'm still a poor judge of how good those cars were, though.

I have no doubt the CTS-V coupe drives well. I'm just looking for your standard of comparison.

And I agree - CTS-V wagon would be my choice of all of them.
