Dated NSX

I think comparing msrp is only a superficial way of measuring a car's ownership cost. A more accurate measure would be: purchase price - (years x depreciation). Take that into consideration, the NSX is around 5% more expensive than an E46 M3. I know I would take the NSX over an M3. If you don't believe me. try a BMW dealer and ask them what is their lease rate for an M3 $0 down 36 months. I bet it would be marginally less than the $800/mo (same lease term) for a brand new NSX.
Brand new NSX can be had for $80k all day long (check NSXprime). 5-yr old used ones go for $50K. Depreciation over 5 years = 30k. C5 Z06 went for $55k brand new. A 5-yr old model will retain less than 50% of its purchase price.
The ownership cost for NSX is not nearly as much as its msrp suggest.

If I don't have to have a sedan for the family, give me a 92 NSX, I will trade in my passat anyday.
Because they are so hard to move off the lots, dealers are very willing to give serious buyers a break. Start at invoice ($80k) and work from there. When I purchased my '04 NSX-T new, Honda had a $5000 incentive program so I got it for $75k.
I feel that is a great deal.
NSX owners love these threads because both sides favor their interests. Personally, I hope people like Steve C. win and that 2005 is the last year for the car. His adamant participation in every thread on the NSX is greatly appreciated.

Nope - but thats my exact color combo and year.
I need to start driving it myself. Can you imagine the pain that Im feeling after buying it 4 weeks ago, driving it home 20 miles, where it has been parked (under cover) since because of winter? It is horrible and relentless.
I never realized the value of kicking around in my S2000 all winter too; that was a ton of fun.
Should have bought a 911 that Id drive all year
NAH!

This thread has been a fun read and my opinion is about the same as steve c's. One poster said something to the effect that the NSX is perhaps the best (performance) car Honda makes. I actually agree with this. However, I don't see that as a good thing.

As a Vette fan (had an 02 Z06, 06 black/black Z06 deposit placed) and having a friend who had a 98 NSX (he now has an SRT Viper), which I got to drive a lot, I can say that the NSX is a very very nice car with just decent performance. The 02 Z06 would just bitchslap it around all day. The exterior appearance is still quite stunning but the interior is extremely dated, has not changed since the 1st model. Ergonomically it's just right, but for a sports car, it's very boring inside. To sell these cars, Honda needs to lower the price to about $50K+,or maybe $60K. Then the selling point for the NSX will be the Honda reliability and exotic looks, in spite of the lacking performance against its contemporaries. Would I buy one new? I'd get one if the price was $50K. Over the Z06 (C5 or C6), definitely not. Over the base C5 Vette?, of course.
hahaha...I LOVE it...as soon as I call you on your hyprociscy you have to resort to adding in the "4 PERSON" qualifier.
I believe it took 15 years for NSXs to become outdated. It took 997s and C6 vettes to do it also.
Value - priced no more than 996 C4s, so while its alot of dough, its inline based upon most direct competition.
Steve.....seriously.....the backseat card? Cmon now.
You're just sticking your head in the sand because someone actually gave you a valid answer.
pounds is still a moderately light car by just about every standard.
In short, none are (significantly) lighter than and some are heavier than the NSX.
No question the NOW EMERGING COMPETITION in the 997 and the C6 vette are faster, but IT TOOK 15 YEARS.
Fun thread.
