Dated NSX
One area the NSX does well in, is top speed. I believe it's 170-175mph. That's better than most cars inc. M3, STi, EVO, (probably) Boxster S.
I know it's a dubious value except on the track.

Regarding the nine pages, change your personal settings to 50 posts per page and there will only be 5.
If it's so "poor", why are some of the luxury cars now using it almost exclusively? I
Let's not forget you pointed out FATIGUE, not corrosion, as your basis for not liking aluminum. At least stick to the argument at hand.
An 8000 rpm redline is still lofty by todays standards and is certainly not something that a $20K economy car typically has, especially in a six- or eight-cylinder motor.
My point is not to make the NSX out to be a featherweight but to show that it is no heavier (or lighter, for that matter) than most cars out there. Stevie boy was saying how it was heavy and that other cars are lighter using common materials (which isn't nearly as true as he seemed to imply). That is all.
Just for reference, though, as I pointed out, there were a number of NSXs under 3000 lbs, which is featherweight for this class.
Also notice that you have to keep stresses below 50% of yield.
Steve's blanket statement about aluminum fatiguing merely had to be challenged.
I was in the Formula SAE competitions and we had steel fatigue a number of times
If you don't stop making shit up I believe this thread may well see 10 pages.
Well then that would involve me going in digging through shit for the next few hours in the nsxprime.com forums and I don't see anyone paying me to do such a thing.
If you want proof go find it yourself. I have the knowledge yet I didn't allot brain space to remember the exact location in which I acquired such knowledge. Sorry about that.

steve: I am not expert in metal composition or properties. Can you give me a short explanation of how steel and aluminum differ with regards to stress, fatigue, and ultimately failure? I am computer guy. I only took basic industrial/mechanical/chemistry classes

I wasn't expecting much better than that.
You made the claim back it up or don
The trend so far in this thread is Steve C telling people they're wrong, but not WHY they're wrong. "You don't know what you're talking about"
And why would that be Steven buddy?
I think he's just pissed because his precious Porsche is threatened by an "outdated" Honda. You said the NSX was common and outdated. If something is common...it's not yet outdated. IF I were 14, I'd still know that. He just has the need to seek out any thread concerning the NSX and trash the car. Just let it be common, or wait, outdated, and as long as "stupid" people buy the cars, Honda is doing just fine.
No, I don't work for Porsche, and maybe they're not TRYING to make max profit on each car, but they do profit more from each individual car than any other auto manufacturer on the planet.
...and before you start to respond, "You obviously don't know what you're talking about" is already used up and it's not proving anything at all.
and you're acting like a child "no the NSX is stupid
