Actually there was a question a commonly asked question about rather the s2k was a mid engine vehicle. i just posted the definition to lay it to rest.

Has there been another car with the engine between the axles but in front of the driver? Could these "definitions" be the result of no precedence?

Yes....the RX-7 -- at least after 1988. I don't know about the earlier ones. That little rotary was nice and snug against the firewall and clearly behind the front wheels. I haven't looked at the RX-8, so I don' t know if that's the same or not.

cars with the engine behind the front axle but in front of the driver...

ford model T...15 million of them..1909-1927.

every lotus 7 built.
