I don't think there are any hard and fast definitions.

I've given you a least half a dozen definitions all stateing the the engine must be behind the passenger compartment give me one definition from a dictionary or automotive glossary that says "MID ENGINE" is different from that and I'll except the argument. I too thought that this car was mid engine but I did my home work and came up with numerous links to prove that it isn't. You might define it as front mid but I havn't found any definitions for that term as of yet but if I do I'll let you know.

classifying where the engine is doesn't change the car's performance. i could care less if the engine is mounted on the roof, so long as the balance of the car allows it to perform better than other cars... which the s2000 has, GREAT BALANCE.

Dude exceltogethighbloodpressure, there are no hard and fast rules. For every website that defines it one way, you can probably find another that defines it another.

I'm chilled find me a website that defines it anouther way..... I looked because someone wanted help defining it I did every bit of reasearch I could only to help, I could give two $hitS rather or not the car is one thing or anouther I just like driving it.
