Well I have to admit, I like the turbo lag in my WRX (got it Tuesday, 2002). It's like a nice extra kick in the ass when I feel like laying on it. In city driving its more tame without the turbo anyway, and quick shifts with moderate gas keep it out of turbo territory. When I feel like laying on it to get around someone or to pull up next to someone (past thier blind spot) I can easily do it by getting the RPM's up quicker.

I am not a road racer nor am I a track days guy, I just wanted a car that is loads of fun to drive (which it is) with AWD and moderate gas mileage. I have launched from a stand still with no reving and the car feels more fun when the power from the turbo comes on. I will admit its faster when I build the RPMs up and drop the clutch but thats not really my style.

I have driven my fair share of turbo/supercharged/giant torque monsters* before but not for periods longer than a few hours. 3 Days into this thing and I still don't like dropping the clutch because I love feeling the turbo kick in.

Is there something wrong with me?

Torque monster: Viper and a few muscle cars. The WRX is in no way a "torque monster" but I just said that because tons of torqure gets you off the line in a hurry, with no lag. I just said it so you all know that I have driven cars that explode in acceleration with out the lag.

You should try the TT Rx-7. Its like you hit Vtec twice. Only difference is, unlike Vtec, you actually feel it.
