At a starting price of nearly $14,000 less, what do you expect?

$14K less? I can get a new mx5 for $16K?
$33,150 - $20,435 = $12715. So almost $13k instead of $14k. His point stands -- dinging the Miata for not matching a car that costs 60% more is kind of ridiculous.

WTF are you talking about? Mazda has sold over 500,000 Miata's world wide since they've come out. That's over 30,000 per year. Explain to us again how not having enough power and interior space hurt Miata sales? 500,000+ people that don't give a sh*t about stepping the rear out around corners on their way to work, school or the store I guess.
30,000 units a year is nothing. GM would consider that a failure, I have a feeling. They sell half a million vehicles every month, lest you forget the differences between Mazda and General Motors.

Actually, nearly 800,000 Miata's have been sold world wide, and it is THE best selling roadster ever, bar none.

Does GM sell a roadster which has sold as many cars as this? No. You're talking about GM selling 'other' types of cars.

Mazda as well have sold 'other' types of cars in much greater numbers then the Miata, but the Miata is still the best selling roadster ever.

I think Mazda sold less than 9,000 Miatas last year IN THE US. Admittedly by that point the Miata was long in the tooth... but still fun for the money. I believe the Solstice will only be sold in the US and Canada.
I've driven the new Miata. I liked it but I didn't have enough leg room and seat recline. The styling suggests it's a car with that modern/retro styling that Ford used on the Mustang and Thunderbird. However, I think Ford pulled it off about as well as can be expected (on the outside anyway). The Miata tries to be a first gen Miata all over again but it's just got too many failed details. Pity, because the details I'm concerned with (nose, hard looking fender flairs etc) are all superficial failures. Unlike say the Z4, I think the basic proportions are correct.
The Solstice is flawed but I think it pulls off it's total look much better than the Miata. I can't wait to drive one... next summer when the wait is over.

GM - C6, Z06, GTO, CTS-V, STS-V, XLR-V, maybe Cobalt SS
Hmm. out of all these products there are only2or 3 of these that I would actually plop my money down on.... c6/or zo6 or possibly a GTO for a family car. So i would say gm versus the other brands have about the same # of exciting products for me..

Of course my next auto will definately be a c6... perhaps z06 if i can afford it.
