The elephants in the room

Drove one last week. Helped my boss purchase one and helped negotiate. Outstanding car, really like it. Much easier to get a good driving position if you are > 6ft tall. If I was buying today I'd take the FRS/BRZ over a S2000, without a doubt. Seats were great, at 6' 2" driving position was optimal. Handling was killer, great chassis, great brakes, phenomenal car.
Salesman said TRD supercharger and exhaust coming shortly. If dealer installed, warrant stays intact. I am tempted but I'd need a beater DD

No elephant im my room. My S is already modified to be way faster than it would be easy to make a BRZ be, and if I am going to trade, I am going upscale (read "German') rather than downscale.
It would help things if Toyota Honda made something more in line with 370 pricing/performance but the BRZ is not for me.
Next to the Cayman though, the BRZ is the best looking affordable car out there. I really love the exterior styling and get a grin every time I see one.

Reading what I just wrote makes me think our s2k's are going to lose their high resale value due to this new competition. What are you other owner's thoughts?
I want somebody tell me that I did the right thing opting for the s2k.

If you bought the car that suits your requirements then you did the right thing. For one person (for most users here) that may be the S2000. For another that may be the FRS/BRZ. I'd pick the S2000 no question but none of us can tell you which suits you best. You should have done your due diligence including test driving before buying.

I wouldn't worry about it. Most of depreciation has occurred by now, so it s/b moderate from here on. As for appreciation, cars aren't investments - just be happy if yours gains value or doesn't lose much value.

Toyota and Subaru, please just give the community what they want. no tune or DI problems and a factory installed TRD or STi supercharger option.

Test drove the FRS (not the BRZ, apparently the Subaru dealers are dicks about test drive even though I pulled up in the WRX and its the dealership that I go to for maint/parts).
Its a very good car, and the salesman was okay with me seeking out the only windy road in the area (aptly named Winding Way) to really try it out. In the end, I was buying it as a purely for fun car (as opposed to our first S2000 which served DD duties) and I decided that the top down option was key to a true "toy". Would have been harder if they had a convertible option for sure or if it had more power. The F series engine is definitely superior but everything else is a wash.
As for resale value, it may have a small effect, especially considering that some s2000s are listed at prices above brand new FR-S's but I doubt prices will fall, the s2000 isnt made anymore and as more and more good examples get wrecked and parted out, the prices will hold.
