the X MR will so far only get the SST (ie automatic/clutchless) tranny, which for me despite its quick shifting, is fail in a car like the Evo.

i just read a review on the Ralliart lancer - it has the exact same engine (longblock) and even the same SST tranny (sans longer 5th and 6th gears for cruising) as the Evo X MR, the only difference is suspension and smaller turbo...so basically for the price difference get a X or bigger turbo, slap on a good set of coilovers with braces/strut/sway bars and you got yourself a better car than the X for less money, IMO.

ralliart won't get AYC it seems, but coilovers and other suspension mods should bring its handling damn close to a stock X.

the ralliart so far will only be produced with the SST, no 3 pedals yet.

It's not just suspension and smaller turbo differentiating the Ralliart from the X. The Ralliart is also missing the Brembo brakes, 18" wheels and tires, and the more aggressive cams of the X.

I'm guessing a set of decent coilovers, Brembo brakes, and wheels and tires plus the labor to install the suspension and brakes will already use up all of the price difference to the X. At the same price point, the modded Ralliart will suffer much worse depreciation than the X.

oops sorry i forgot to mention upgrading the brakes...to something better than the Brembo.

accodring to the review (which i just started a thread on in this forum) the engineers considered giving the Ralliart less aggressive cams but ended up putting in the same cams as the X, making the longblock identical to the X.

however the article also said the ralliart might be $30k...which would make me just get a X, unless the Ralliart despite having the same engine/tranny somehow weighs significantly less than the X

I think you meant the IX. "...alot of issues with reliability" is probably an exaggeration. They're not as tough as the 5 speed but it's not like they were breaking at the streets. Issues generally happened on the track. Basically...more gears, same size 5 speed box, not as much circulating fluid = too much heat.
