F40LM
A few years ago (like 7) at an HPDE in VIR, I met this couple. They were from PA and the guy worked in the coal industry. He brought to VIR a brand new F360 Challenge Stradalle(sp?). One day he got a call from the Ferrari dealership after a guy who ordered the F360CS changed his mind after the car arrived to the dealership. Those are special order only and come race-ready with a trailer, several wheel and tire sets, tools and common wear items (fluids, brakes, etc.) that you pre-order.
He thought: Well, I already have 7 at home so one more wont be a problem. Among those 7, he owns a 348, a 355, a Testarrosa, a 360 Modena, an F50 (at the time 1 or 8 in the US), an F40 and another one that I can't remember.
When I asked him which one he likes the most, he immediatelly responded: Withouth a doubt, the F40.
I wonder if hes added an Enzo and/or a 599 GTB to his collection ...

by space age i mean, stuff like front axle lifting units, special sport mode or normal mode functions, no fancy launch control, and blah blah blah. the traditional F40 was a tad bit below 3,000lbs. the LM was a tad over 2,000lbs, also a few tweak here and there to produce about 720bhp. 0-60 is 2.9 seconds. A little reminder the veyron is .4 sec faster.
and i agree with umar the F1 transmissions are totally stellar, but proper manual gear boxes will soon be a thing of the past. better hold on to your S as long as you can

Not suprising. Even compared to the modern (at the time) 360CS, the F40 has a 58hp advantage, a flatter powerband, and is a bit lighter as well. From an enthusiast standpoint, especially one who frequents HPDE's, the F40 is the more fun car.

Do you have anything to trade?Honestly, seeing how this car was THE poster car for most of us, it's no doubt we can call it one of the best (the best) car ever made. It does everything a supercar does. Sure it may be slower than some of this day and age, but that's Enzo's last car, that's one of the most exciting cars ever built, whether it's driving it, hearing/seeing it, or just imagining it. If I were to ever make my own car, I'd use that as a benchmark and if I got within a fraction of its appeal, I'd consider myself successful.

Another car in that same league is the Porsche 959. I saw one three or four months ago at the Raleigh meet and I almost piss me pants. Interestingly enough, my biggest poster car ever was the Countach Aniversarry Edition, and the first time i saw one I was inpressed, but not in the same way.
