Forthcoming NSX
not even close to the real thing in my opinion. Those wheels on the yellow car are off a S4 put on a Elise with different taillights. I cant believe some people are stressing out about these blatant photoshops. I've seen personal work that looks better than those.
I dont see Honda building a V8 for the next NSX. They have already said that they will not go away from front wheel drive for their products. Ask Cadilac if a V8 in a front wheel drive platform is a good idea, and Honda isnt big enough to afford a huge project to develop their first street V8 without letting the engineering trickle down.
My best guess:
Note: the current NSX is underrated at 290. Anyway, I'm guessing a 3.5L- 3.7L producing 340+ hp but not more than 370. The power will be just enough to keep up with the 911.
One guess would be that Honda will use a variation of the current C-series block, but bored/stroked and updated to be up to date. The addition of i-VTEC, will not only allow the NSX to have more torque throughout the band, but will allow the 12+ year old engine design to meet stricter emmisions and it will be in line with Honda's commitment to environmental protection.
Another guess (best guess?) would be the J-series motors used in TL/Accord/CL. SOHC is one drawback, but the F20C is a distant relative of the SOHC F23's used in previous generation Accords so I would not rule it out (There was also a DOHC F-series used in a sporty version of the accord also). J-series block is to get an i-VTEC head soon so certainly a DOHC, bored out, more performance oriented version of the 3.0 i-VTEC that Honda unvailed might not be a bad choice. Also, this would be a cost cutting measure as the old C-series block would no longer have to be manufactured.
Electric motors might be used but I think it might be far fetched for a SUPERCAR b/c electric motors mean weight and according to the rumors, this would make the NSX all wheel drive cause the electric motors would drive the front wheels. Plus, Honda doesnt make all wheel drive passenger cars, last time I checked. However, this would be in line with Honda's commitment to the environment and there was the dualnote concept a couple years ago which had this technology.
Finally, I do not think that Honda will use an aluminum body. This was a bad idea as the steel bodied (and 4 seater...kinda) 911 weighs around the same and it added tremendusly to the cost of the NSX. I do see Honda attempting to keep the weight around the weight of the current generation, if not slightly lighter. I think it will still be mid-engine rear wheel drive, as this means that a front wheel drive drivetrain can be used.

i think honda would use the hybrid on the new NSX. it still wouldn't weight more than the 911 turbo because of the alum. body.

I thought Honda recently admitted it was not going hybrid for the NSX, or maybe thats hondahearsay. I think a 350-400 hp mid engine layout in Aluminium plus Carbon fibre bits (hood, door, trunk etc...) and some interesting styling. Interestingly, I have seen a photo in this week's Autocar of the upcoming Nissan GTR, but nothing yet of the NSX, doesn't that seem strange? Maybe the Tokyo Autoshow in October will reveal at least some official details or hopefully the car itself.
No, the dualnote idea has been nixed. The speculation is High Output V6.
