Gear
Have not posted on this site for a while, but trust the judgement and advice from most on this board. Just about ready to buy a bike and i am interested in top notch riding gear. I am not familiar with any brand names and was wondering if you guys could suggest a few. Not to concerned about price, more concerned about proper fitment and excellent protection. Looking primarily for a summer jacket, gloves, and of course a full face helmet. Thanks!
For helmets, Shoei, Arai, AGV. (I currently have a KBC Force RR, pretty good for the price).
For Gloves, Alpinestar.
For Jackets, Alpinestar.
For Boots, I have no idea
.
This is the little I know, I hope it helps.

Alpinestar great for everything.
I have a motoGP one piece suit, kangaroo leather, breathes like you're riding naked, it's real light, and twice the abrasive resitance as cowhide leathers. It was pricey though,
If you're gonna ride street and track/canyons, I'd reccomend a two piece suit.

Higher end brands are Dainese, Alpinestars, Spidi, Sidi, Arai, Shoei, Shark, OGK. In this market, you pretty much get what you pay for. Stick with leather, it's much better than textile. Try to get perforated leather. If it's too hot to wear your leathers, drive your car.
check helmetcity.com. good stuff for your bike or auto racing. Shoei, Arai helmets are mostly overpriced or overkill for a street bike, KBC & HJC offer great value and the same protection. I'm not about to pay doulbe for a little less weight. My gloves a re joe rocket, as are my textile pants, and Leather Jacket. I agree with getting the leather jacket, mine has good ventilation, and the liner is removable. Cloth doesn't have the abraision resistance that leather does. Leather's only hot when you quit moving.

Do you guys ride in jeans? Should i invest in a set of pants as well?
denise summer pants fit under street clothing and offer some protection. look at dragging jeans (and other vendors) too.
leather
those that zip to a jacket make sure they zip all the way around. these are ok for a moderate speed getoff. a full reace suite works best if you ride agressive. whatever, get something with a knee puck.
all this stuff is not quite an investiment since after the first getoff at the track, and it will happen, the new look is gone.
