Thumbs down HELP >.<

Hey guys, as of right now I own a 93 Celica ST 5SPD. It only has 81,000 miles on it and is in great condition. Except for one thing. The car I'd say for about the past 4-6 thousand miles has been BUMPIER than hell. I really am mechanically challenged. So... here is what happens

Start the car....idels at about 1000, then drops to around 800-850, like that car should, considering it is only 102 hp >.<

Put the car in first, off the clutch on the gas....and the car rumbles like hell, like your driving over rocks or going through pot holes....my last oil change was about 4000 miles ago. If I just punch the gas, in any gear, the car is bumpy while im driving, 1st gear is the worst. Also my muffler (Magnaflow / Muffler only on stock exhaust) has sounded fine until this "bumping" started, the muffler sounds like it's putting and it will throw in a sound every time I open throttle that sounds like your steping or crunching a leaf on the ground.

Thanks for reading

Nick

by "bumpy," do you mean the car jounces up and down as if you are going over bumps in the road, or the engine seems to not pull smoothly as you accelerate?

If the latter, replace the plugs, cap and rotor if that model uses one, and replace the plug wires. Make sure you use a wire loom to keep the wires separated and not just laying along the engine. It sounds like you have a miss that is only apparent under load. You might need to replace the coil, as well. Also try buying the highest octane gas you can find - that will help rule out detonation from poor timing or carbon build-up. If you take your car to the dealer for what is a standard tune-up, they'll probably do all that, but you can easily do it yourself in an hour in a driveway, and save yourself a bit of cash. I'd take it to a dealer if plugs, wires, and cap and rotor don't cure it. If premium gas does seem to fix the problem, visit the dealer to see why, with regular in the tank (a mechanic can't fix it if it isn't acting up at the time).

If the problem is you feel like you are driving over bumps, the problem is Chicago area streets, not your car

I agree with motor mounts. Check them first, it's free.

Could be a misfire. My wife's 95 corolla developed a fairly violent vibration. Replacing the wires to the spark plug and everything was smooth again.
