Hey guys, this thread may be in the wrong place so I apologize if it is. My 02 Maxima is doing something funny. When I am driving down the road (50 or 60) and I put the gas down, instead of the normal beautiful growl that I get, the RPMs go absolutely nowhere! The car just bogs down and it is like it is hitting a wall and then starts to sort of rock front in back real slight like the car is choking! I have never, never had any issues with any of my Maximas and this car is mint. I get the oil changed every 3-5k miles. It has 57k miles...any idea what this could be...fuel injector, air filter, fuel line...I have no idea about cars so it could be anything. What does this sound like to you? It started about two weeks ago and last night it was the worst, but then it was fine later last night. I only had issues after I put one tank of 87 octane gas in the car. I have put 92 or 93 octane in the car every tank since I bought the car and then I put one tank of 87 octane because Clark Howard said that it was a rip off and that Premium gas was a joke!! I haven't put 87 in since. Could it be the gas?

You will probably get a lot better response over at Maxima.org . Its a real nice site for Maxima owners.

Take it to the dealer? Also, unless your manual says otherwise, 87 should be fine...

definitely check out Maxima.org, b/c I had an '01 Maxima SE and found it to be a helpful site. BTW, I used to run only premium in mine and never had any issues. The usual thoughts come to mind, check the air filter, clean throttle body, etc., but certainly check in on maxima.org.
