Imagine if your doctor was like that.

"Um, yea, God recommends a new liver every 50 years, or, 500,000 miles"

Actually some are like that.

More specifically, there are investigtions going on right now against Doctors recommending drugs/therapies/services because they're getting some side action from the manufacturers.

This is why the ban is already on for drug company swag (i.e. drug labeled freeware pens/etc...)

And not to mention the mortage/banking industry.

It's greed, and won't stop till more and more people take action against it.

IMHO, if your dumb enough to take your car to a lube place...you get what you deserve. the dealer isnt any more expensive, and in some cases CHEAPER than jiffey lube or ez lube. our dealer is cheaper, and you get a free wash/vac.

I've been hearing about Jiffylube and EZlube's unsavory practices for 10 years - probably more than 10 years actually. The news media does an undercover report on them practically every year. Every year they say "That employee was fired" and "We've changed our business policy", and every year I see the same damned undercover report.

Everyone I know who went to one of these shops had the same story - they ended up spending a few hundred dollars just for an oil change. I tell them they are being ripped off and they say "oh well at least I don't have to worry about changing my oil for a while" There are enough suckers out there to keep these people in business despite the undercover reports.

Seriously - I first remember seeing an undercover report on Jiffylube in the early/mid-90's and I've been seeing them consistently every year.

That's pretty pathetic. I take my cars to the dealer for everything... Well, sometimes I get my oil changes on the Camry and Highlander done at Wal-Mart's auto section where they try to actually get me to buy "better", no-name oil because it'll last longer but I prefer having Penzoil or Mobile 1 put into my daily drivers. The S2K gets all its services done strictly at the Honda dealership.

i always take my company car to jiffy lube here in town. ive never had any trouble out of them, but i do watch them like a hawk. they always offer an air filter or wiper blades, but have never offered anything outrageous. i do all the lube/plug/hose changes and other fairly simple stuff on my car. when i do need to take it in (tires, alignment) im right there with them all the time "learning".
