I need to pick up a DD...I'll consider the M3 once the price tag is announced.

[QUOTE=rai,Dec 13 2007, 06:59 PM] you don't have to get so defensive about your RS4 all the time.

Ckit

I know what you mean. like if possible I'd have 10 cars Elise up to RR Phantom but the reality is only so much room and money so that's where a M3 (or RS4) come in. Not that they are sports cars but more like everyday cars that have been made fast. I see how a Cayman S is better even tho it's not quick, but I wouldn't mind if the Cayman was a quicker car it wouldn't hurt my feelings to have a 350hp Cayman RS for example that could run closer with the Corvette in a straight line.

Some car mag said "Porsche could make a 415hp Cayman GT3 tomorrow if it wanted to and price it for $80K and it would be fantastic but Porsche is not about to do any such thing, not because it would be a bad (to make a quick Cayman) but because it would be too good (ie. take away from the 911 sales).

I think the GTR has a potential to be closer to the my ideal. Still not a sportscar like the GT3 more close to a 911 Turbo. It will be interesting if it's half the cost of the 911 turbo (or put another way about the same price as a Cayman S). I think the M3 or RS4 will be more useful (room) but not as sporty as the GTR.

let me tell you that M6 can run (I think they under-rate it) here is the 0-150 time for the M6 (from C&D) 19.5 sec.

Here is the 0-150 times for

500hp Mustang 30.3 sec
400hp Corvette 26.8 sec
M3 24.3 sec
LT3 C6 Z51 23.5 sec

In other words the M6 (at least this one tested) can get to 150 mph 5 seconds quicker than the M3.

It looks like the (stock) M3 will keep up with a C6 436hp 428-TQ (at least while the C6 is stock as well)
I just read the Autocar roadtest of the C63. They called it AMG's finest moment so far. The verdict was that the C63 bettered the M3 - "faster, steers better, feels more special and has a bigger, better appointed interior". Oh, it ripped 0-150 in 22.9s!
