Look you guys, I'm SO not disagreeing with you guys that cell-phones are a danger to those on the road. However, my ultimate point was that the attitude you were giving the guy asking a simple question was not called for.

Then again, given what has happened to some of you due to cell-phone users on the road, I can't say I blame you all!

Having said that, I shall continue to be vigilant as I, for example, call my friend to briefly let him know I am about to arrive to his place so that he/she can be prepared. What am I supposed to do, pull over to the side of the road, put my hazards on, THEN call my friend? Yeah yeah, I see many valid rebuttals to that particular point. I guess I don't have a valid point here do I?

All I know is, I'm the safest & most alert driver I know. Why should I be judged just because I use a cell phone to "radio ahead"? It's not like I yak on the phone and hold entire conversations.

Thank guys, especially you Steve for sticking up for me. But I still really had my questioned answered. Is it possible to hear the cell phone on the freeway while driving 75?

when my friends are in the passenger seat making calls and i'm going over 75, they can't hear too well. that's with the top down, windows up. i often see them getting as low as possible and struggling to hear.
it might depend on the phone and service. most of the time, they have a hard time hearing, but i remember once, someone said they could hear pretty ok.
it helps to turn down the music for them too

dont make a habit out of talking on the phone while driving this car (esp. in traffic)... your question makes it seem like talking on the phone while driving is very important. i can understand why everybody else is emphasizing that rather than directly answering your q. at least make sure you mention that you're using one of those handsfree thing!
