Default i'm considering an AUDI what does everyone think of that?

after this summer, my plan to sell my '01 s2k and my 97 VW jetta GT and get just one car...i considered SUVs, i looked at sports cars, i looked at everything. I need AWD for my commute to work, i need some excitement, and i need some luxury, what other cars can give me all those things...and oh yeah, i don't want to pay too much...

i was thinking of an A4 quattro 1.8t

i can mod the hell out of it to please my need for speed...i think... and i can load it with luxury items all for under 30K...i want to buy a house and i need to conserve some cash...that is why i will say goodbye to my baby after this summer.

any other suggestions on cars?

thanks

I like those new A4s.......Dual pipes!

I bet you could get a used A4 and a used RX7 for under 30g! That way, you could have a everyday car and a race car.

i have an audi -

nothin' but praise...so far.

fit and finish second to none, amazing power delivery, crisp tranny (auto), quiet, smooth etc....

also, no problems to report so far - 4 months and counting...

besides, the new A looks very nice - throw on a sport package and xenons and you're set.

wwwwwway better looking than it's competitors (3-series BMW, C-Class MB, etc.)

not to mention "no-charge" maintenance - that's gotta be worth a few bucks, especially since it includes EVERYTHING except tires (including brakes!)

go for it! you will NOT be dissappointed (i hope )

regards.

I believe you can buy the V6 Passat with all-wheel drive (or whatever they call it) for less money and you'll get more stuff. Keep in mind that VW and Audi are basically the same company... also keep in mind that's (the 1.8t) the Beetle engine and the Audi is a heavier car.

i'm not sure about the tuner market for the A-series because i have an 8-series.

go to www.audiworld.com - tons of info there. but, from what i've read over time, really AMAZING things can be done to that motor - you'll have lots of options...

btw, i have a 360HP V8 in the S8 - it's a beast. i have the tiptronic tranny.

Good luck on your purchase of the Audi. Try www.evoms.com. Evolution Motorsports has a stage 3 kit that will give you well over 300 hp for that car. Out here in car crazy LA there are two camps on the Audi. Personally I like what they did with the new car much better than the old one, and there are other people that think it is a cheesy cop out that isn't comparable to the BMW & Mercedes. I'm sure you won'r have that problem in PA

BTW, you may want to check out the new Passat W8 four motion coming out. 275 hp and AWD. That might help you in PA (I went to PSU and I think I am still thawing out !). The handling will be far different from the S2000, are you sure you want to give that up. The S2000 is a much better track car, though the A4 will give you a much more compliant ride on the roads.

Good Luck

i know that i am sacrificing alot when i decide to get rid of my honda, but i want to buy a house and the s2000 and its REDICULOUS insurance premiums are killing me ....i think the a4 will be just the move for me. i need the quattro and it will still be fun, but i will know better than to mess with an s2000 if i ever run into one. thanks for all your opinions everyone.

apr just finished a stage III+ for the 1.8t that puts out 310 hp..
check out
www.goapr.com this kit has been made a year ago, but apr decided to do some long term testing on that kit, and apr's customer service is A+ so their kit is reliable..
can't wait until they make the stage III for my 225Quattro Coupe TT

also, they use a new transmission technology for the new A4 auto's
supposedly, you won't be able to feel the shifts ..when the car shifts
i don't know too much about it other than that..

I actually just went the opposite route... I traded in my 99.5 A4 1.8TQ to a 2002 S2000. So far, I have no regrets. I like driving the S2000 so much better... it feels so much more responsive and light, and driving around with the top down is just awesome. However, for a 4-door sedan, my A4 was pretty decent. I had an APR chip, which bumped the power up to 200hp and about 200 something lb-ft of torque. The A4 definitely had a much more luxury-oriented tilt as well.
