The new Audi A4's are nice especially with the 17" Sport Suspension package....
1.8T's can get mad hp gains especially with adding a chip.

As for what people think..who cares??? Its your money do what pleases you...

good luck

get a ML500, if u want a truck. I know alot of people think its a "female" vechile but its a good truck despite all the crap i say about it. think of it this way its does everything well and its handles remarkably well on stock rims. that or go for a second had M5, they going to be coming off leases soon

thanks ML...

I am not sure that an ML500 is in my price range right now, and the M5 ( I will have one someday) is RWD and will not work as my daily driver with all the snow i get here in the pocono region of PA. my friends want me to get a WRX so that we can mod the sh*t out of it, but i just really hate the way subaru's look. i was gonna stop the other day and look at lexus version of the SUV, but i ran short on time, i will check out the ML500 as well.

Matt

Far different cars between the Audi & WRX. The Audi has what has been described as a 1st class interior with amazing blends of supple leather & wood. The WRX had a very cheap plasticky interior for my taste. You pay for what you get. In Suburu's case a $30K car was spent on the engine and not the interior. If you are looking at sport utes also look at the Acura MDX (from whatI have heard unbeatable for the money), and the X5 (much nicer handling for a sport ute considering you are going from an S2000)

My neighbor just got rid of his A4/2.8...nothing but trouble, and I recommended it to him Do you REALLY need AWD? If not, the FWD Passat GLS/1.8T is very nice for MSRP in lower 20's. We're looking at one to replace our '95 Odyssey.

Good luck! If you make it to one of our Delaware Valley get-togethers and meet some great folks, maybe you'll change your mind and just keep your beater for the bad weather

My brother used to have a fixed up A4 1.8t it was very nice. THe thing i loved most about it was that it was Turbo so my brother hooked up a fat blow off valve(i will NEVER get tired of that Swoosh). There were a lot of aftermarket companies offering turbo upgrades that had gains of up to 300+ hp. He had also changed teh suspension and after driving my car had stated that "My car with all my suspension mods could easy outhandle this(s2000)"

I forgot to add that he had got 64,000 miles in about 1.5 years and the turbo had broken at about 69k. The quoted replacement for the STOCK turbo was $2K.

My wife just bought a new loaded Jetta and I just spent the yesterday in my bosses A4 1.8T (although I didn't drive it.) As I told Suz last night, I walked away thinking that there's not enough difference in these cars to justify the price difference. They are very similar except for minor differences in power, features, and trim.

Newly knowledgable, I think I'd go Passat before A4.
