Default Insurance Question

Is it possible to insure a motorcycle if you have a valid drivers license, but only a motorcycle learner's permit? Sorry if this is a dumb question.

Although I've taken all of the safety classes, I do not have my endorsement. Just never found the time in my years of riding to go down and get one.

Insurance never asked for it. I use Progressive for the bike.

Good enough for the Governator.

I recently bought a motorcycle without a motorcycle license and had it insured. I didnt have a permit, I got it the day after i bought the bike and I only got my license a couple of days ago.

The bike was insured right from the dealer, however a couple of weeks later the insurance company sent me a letter saying they were cancelling my insurance on April 9th, and I got my license on the 12th.

It's kind of messy, but it didnt cost me any extra money and the only downfall was I had no insurance for three days, which were rainy for my luck.

If I could do it all over again I would just get the license before buying, but it was an impulse buy anyway.

My insurance company never asked about a motorcycyle endorsement. I don't think most people have endorsements when they first buy a bike.

It usually dfoesn't become an issue until you make a claim. Then the insurance co.'s start digging just so tey don't have to pay out.

I just bought mine last weekend. I won't have my license for a couple more weeks. Insurance was no problem, although I have known my agent for about 20 years.

Guzo, I am surprised that the insurance company dropped you. It really has no bearing on the insurability if you have a license or not. It could only go to ability to operate the bike which you don't get with a license. Besides...I see people everyday who can't drive, and they have insurance. (I hope)

You can insure a boat, car, heavy machinery, motorcycle, just about anything without a license. This doesn't mean it won't screw you later. Don't give the insurance company anything to take advantage of you in case of a mishap. True, the insurance should cover repairs regardless, but lets say you have liability. A car rear-ends you. You don't have a license and have no bearing being on the streets. You may not have the grounds to make a claim if you are illegally roaming the streets without a proper license. Slim chance? Yes. Could it happen? Yes.
