It's fast
I'm sure it is. Also, costs like 8X. The acr can be made more comfortable. The tractive suspension setup already seems to show some serious improvements there. The big issue is how low it is. If it tried to drive that through SF it would probably be in pieces by the time I got to the other side. I've tried it with mine....not my favorite thing.
Most production street/sports cars don't have aero to this level. Even GT3RS 4.0 and 991 GT3RS don't and those are about the most hardcore mass production sports cars out there that compete with Viper. I bet the lap times are faster in this new car than the previous gen ACR-X race car and certainly the couple gen old Competition coupe. Besides safety items (cage, harness, fire system) you could strip this car and go W2W racing.

Yep a new Z06 with Z07 package comes with Cup2 tires. Can't imagine how often those would have to be replaced. What tires does the new ACR come with?
Tire, chassis combo keeps Viper ACR glued to the roadThe 2016 Dodge Viper ACR is fitted with Kumho® Ecsta V720 high-performance tires designed specifically for the car with unique tread pattern and compounds for front and rear. In testing, the new tires produce lap times that are 1.5 seconds faster than off-road-only race tires.
Concerning comfort and gen V Vipers... My wife and I drove our 2015 SRT Viper 750 miles in 2 days and we survived just fine. While it's not the ACR setup, I'm pretty sure it's not as rough as most people think. I wish people had some experience with Vipers before chirping about some head scratching things I read about the car I own. The interior is F'in top notch for a supposed animal beast that's called a sledgehammer. It's super spacious, has plenty of leg room, and the clutch is very manageable. Even in traffic, I keep it in 2nd and I'm good to go from 8 mph to 45 mph.
I love my Viper, but I love the ACR more. In 2017, we will pick one up. It's too good of a car not to buy at the price point. It will be nice to be the king in a couple of years. NSX.... An afterthought after this car and I can still work on the Viper, unlike the complicated NSX.

i didnt read all of what Mr.EG said, but i'm gonna go ahead and support more racecar than streetcar. Having seen the ACR and the GTD vipers, the ACR was more of everything and the only thing that would make it a "street car" over a racecar is the fact that it has a full interior. Ok, it probably doesn't fit into any specific category of racecar, but that doesn't take away the fact that the ACR has more absurd aero, power, etc than probably 99% of cars out today.

For everyone else..
It's not a race car folks, anyone who thinks a production car that meets crash safety standards and has leather is a race car... Um well you're a fool.

A race car is a gutted car, track only use and will not pass safety/inspection testing for the streets. It is never a production car - as in its not made for sale in scale. A race car may have the bones of a production car. See the diff?
The acr is the viper with aero, carbon brakes and stiffer suspension. That's basically it. It's not a gutted interior with roll cage. It's not missing cats/mufflers. It's not missing air bags and other crash gear required:
The entire debate shows the lack of knowledge of this group.
A race car is my S2000 that I'm gutting the interior on. I'm also installing a full roll bar setup with racing seats with super stiff coil overs that will make the drive down to the dragon pretty uncomfortable. I know someone that has a track S2. It's so track that he had to buy another S2 so he could cruise around and be comftorable. My Viper is no way in hell more race car than streetracecar. That's just pure silliness.
At the end of the day they're fanboys that can't see past their own fanboyness.
I said to myself, I would never own a dodge product 10 years ago. Well, Dodge changed and now it's a badass company. I gave them a chance with the Viper and I'm so happy I did. I never understood why people loved Porsche. We test drove a Cayenne and I was blown away at how well the car is built. I'm now a P-car fan. Did I mention I also own a Chevy truck? My point being, every car company has shining stars, embrace them. Some are doing better than others. Don't be stuck on what you read. Go out and test drive or look at the car for yourself. You would be suprised on what's out there.
