Its hard to find one that isnt beat to death, than and I have trouble convincing myself that a 20 yr old car can get me to work everyday.
That's where AAA and a good mechanical knowledge come in handy. I bought mine for $1k with a blown tranny. Some busted knuckles and a used tranny later I had myself a great little car that's been trouble free ever since.. Just do regular maintenance and you're set...

Wow, I've missed a lot while I was gone.

1st off, I wasn't saying the 135i will be equal in terms of performance/value as the C6, I was saying between the two, in my eyes, the pros - cons of each car equal out for ME!

2nd, Looks are completely subjective, I don't find the 135i to be an extremely good looking car, but I do find it better looking than the upcoming EVO X. (I hate sedans)

3rd, Believe it or not I will definetly test drive the new EVO, the C6, the 135i and any other contender that arises when the time comes. I'm not saying as I stand right now that I'm going to buy the 135i for sure. I'm just saying on paper, it fits my needs the most as of right now, without test driving any of the others.

Everyone's right, I've never owned a European car. I've only bought one brand new car in my life. I'm not familar with the mark ups and other fee's associated with a BMW. If I could get OTD with a stripped down White 135i for under $35K that's what I'll do IF it's the car I find most suitable for me after seeing and driving one in person. I'm not the type of person to run out and make a rash financial decision like this with out researching and feeling out everything in the market. As of right now my list is:

C6
135i
Evo
STI

I'm not sure which one I'll buy, but as you can see, I base my purchasing first and foremost off the performance that I can afford.

I don't care out the number of doors or seats or technology etc. etc.

just wanted to add some "known facts" since there's a lot of speculation surrounding the 1 series...

the car "may" weigh less than some of you are thinking... based on the highest 1 series currently in production in Europe, the 130i 5-door hatchback... that car has a listed weight of 1460 KG's... According to BMW, this includes "a 90 per cent tank filling, 68 kg for the driver and 7 kg for luggage." So, the actual weight is 1460 - 68 - 7 = 1385 KG's... That's 3,075 Lbs...

if the BMWUSA press release has any truth to it, the sport package for the 1 series is gonna have 6-piston front caliper's and 2 piston rear caliper's... significant hardware for the low end Bimmer... considering all the other cars are running single piston's...

Most the of the magazine features have been commending BMW for equipping the car with serious braking power, and saying that BMW is confident many owners will be taking this car to the track.

I've known this for a while. Yet I love people to think its heavier than it is.
