Nope, BMW dropped that idea quickly due to the name recognition of the M3.

I bet the next M3 will be softened up even more than the current m3.

if u frequent the m3 forums you will see what a bunch of idiots those owners are. no concept of what a sports car should feel like.

my bet is on the next GTR. 450 hp. it'll kill the next m3 at a much cheaper price.

btw how come this forum isnt sending email notifications of new posts? maybe it just hates me

I know too many people who are having serious reliability issues (some covered under warranty, some not) with their BMWs and would never consider buying one (even though that photoshopped version looks hot).

Enlighten me then, if the M3 doesn't fit YOUR definition of a sports car, then what is?

cars like the s2k, evo, 993 911, e30 m3, e36 m3 etc. cars that communicate to the driver and are fun to drive.

to make a e46m3 a sports car and not a comfort oriented GT u need: put steering feel back in, tune suspension like the old e36 m3 to get rid of lean, dive, and high speed lane change whobble; get rid of that numb down throttle mapping, almost gives the car turbo lag type of throttle response, get rid of the CDV valve and Self Adjusting Clutch mechanism to give back clutch feel to the driver, loose few hundred pounds.

Every guy at the track I've talked to who has driven an E36 and an E46 says that the former is a better track car.
