Lets talk DOT race tires
My CBR600RR came with Dunlop Qualifiers. They currently have 2000 miles, with approx 500 or 600 of them at the track. I've recently gotten some feedback that I should look in to some stickier tires. My riding pattern will likely remain the same - about 25% to 30% trackday, the rest street (just normal city stuff, to/from meets, work, etc. No canyon carving.)
Bridgestone BT-002
Pirelli Supercorsa
Dunlop Sportmax GP-A
Michelin Power Race
Did I miss any models?
Is one consistently considered better than the others?
Can these survive some street miles between trackdays?
Is what everybody says about heat-cycles and tire-warmers true? (This is, if I want to extend their longevity I should keep them in tire-warmers between sessions to prevent heat-cycles? It's not something that's talked about much with car tires...)

The more you move towards a full race tire the fewer miles you'll get out of the tires and usually you'll lose A LOT of wet weather traction when / if you get caught out in bad weather.

I am friends with Brad Miller, one of the top ducati mechanics, and I am getting some Dunlops from him in a special compound.
He says he prefers them over the rest. I am currently running the power races until I got a flat 2 nights ago. I am taking his advice (I know he is right) and getting some of these through him. If you want a set I will tell him.
Also, he told me that the way the cords are stacked makes the tire much, much stiffer in comparison to the power race and others which makes turn in more responsive and a better tire overall.

what pace are you running at the track?
A. bring it on.
B. carry pretty good corner speed.
C. park it every corner.

I asked some locals what sort of laptime is pushing it for OEM street tires, and got back "mid 1:30s to 1:40s." My best so far is 1:33.5xx. A top superstock laptime in the regional races held here is around 1:15.
The 1:33.5 certainly won't win me any races, but in the novice class neither would I be DFL by any means.
What sort of care and feeding do DOT race tires really require? If I do a trackday w/o tire warmers, how much of their life do they loose? If I ride them on the street some, same question?
