I know before my dad was looking into the LX again, but couldn't really go with the LX470, he's been waiting for the next one for a while. If it's going to be another 19 months or so, I may tell him to just go with the new Escalade.
We just picked up an '06 LX470. It's still a great car and probably the most comfortable one in the Lexus lineup, but it is definitely getting long in the tooth.

all they need is an IS350 + 6-speed manual, that would take the stake deep into BMW's bread and butter on the enthusiast segment.

doubt it - more to a sport sedan than just a manual transmission.
