Looking for 4-door with comfort/power

CTS-V would be a nice choice and they are in the price range you're looking. The automatic isn't as nice as DCT or DSG, though.
Personally, I'd grab a used M3 with DCT or an E63 AMG at those price levels. RS4 doesn't come with an automatic so that one is out.

if you really look, you'll be able to find a mint IS-F with <5,000 miles for that price. Mine had <2,000 miles and I paid just under 50. I also found it within 2 hours of my location and in my color preference...but maybe that was just luck.

Well I looked into a lot of the reviews etc, and it sounds like the ISF is just too harsh a ride for what I am looking for. The E63 AMG sounds like a great choice, there was an 07 for $54k, but other than that nothing within 200 miles on autotrader.
Going to test drive the 335i with the auto I think tomorrow to see how much worse it is than the DCT - that also happens to be the only Audi dealer in town as well, so if I am lucky I might get to test the S4 as well.
And I did drive a G35 and hated it - the car just felt like a boat. That is my fear with the larger E63 as well, but the adjustable suspension is a great feature and one that I need to see if it is available on the 335i or the S4. Being able to drive long trips in comfort but let loose when I want to on a windy back road is the ideal situation, essentially 2 cars in one, as opposed to my STI that is a flippin' blast for the 5% of the time I am pushing the car but miserable just cruising and feeling every small bump.
There is a used 2008 M3 in the area as well I might try out, the only thing I hate about buying used is often it is really tough to get not only an auto on a performance car but one with options at least close to what I want.

Still has a torque converter but it locks it up when a normal car wouldn't to provide a direct drive. It also shifts pretty quick for an automatic and has eight speeds. It's not bad at all.

Would like to drive one to see what the 8-speed is like. I assume 7th and 8th gears are reserved for ultra smooth highway cruising. Could be fun.
