LSx Conversion FD

While I think the idea of swaping an LSX into an FD is really cool, Id still prefer one with a rotary whether it be a 13b or a 22b
I just feel that the rotary engine is what makes a mazda a sportscar in the first place

i know that a lot of the rotary bashing is blown out of proportion but there probably is a bit of truth somewhere in there (even though I think most of us can agree that most rotary engine bloodbaths occur because of shit tuning).
the thing that bugs me is that most of the issues that a rotary engine may have can be solved by anyone decent with a wrench. maybe this forum is a little higher on the vehicle scale but I for one am not above working on a car and virtually any affordable car that is worth modifying (read, ideal for road racing not just a straight line car) will require an engine swap or some major engine work to make a significant amount of power. i've never been afraid of that so why should operating on an engine with a handful of parts bother me?
i guess what I am trying to say is that there are no reasonably priced cars that I can think of that of that can compete with the rx7 without the strong possibility of a bunch of wrench time anyway.
maybe the conclusion is "rx-7. not for pussies"
There are many cars I like more than rx-7's but few that come close in price. if they were a little cheaper I'd probably own one. at their current price, i'd rather have an s2000. If i got an rx-7 I woudn't have any misgivings about their reliability but I also wouldn't be scared away. you have to pay to play.

how can you guys call the rotory trash. the fd is actually very reliable its just because with twin turbo system and other things it causes lots of heat in the engine bay and the lack of knowlodge people have about the motor. you also have to remeber you are talking about a car thats like 15 years old so you cant expect the original oem parts to be in the best of shape. im considering buying a rx7 fd i have been researching them for months and they are a amazing machine. And because living in canada you can pick up a nice clean jdm one for under 10 grand.

Jose has never steered me wrong so i didn't give it a thought and switched. i can assure all that Jose knows my car inside and out. he did the side seals on my 04 motor that i recently disassembled just out of curiosity. it is absolutely perfect. literally one thousandth side seal wear in 4 years and 120 dyno pulls at 498 rwhp. bearings perfect etc. i will just refresh it and reinstall. i change oil every 3000 miles. my oil does not smell of gasoline BTW...
