its actually amazing how much horsepower you can get out of the rx7 FD with just a few mods you can take it from its 255 to over 350 with just a few cheap mods

It's nice but in a year or two I'd rather have the C5 vette and save the hassle. They will be cheap enough if they aren't already.

RX-7 interiors fall apart or at least the leather does, still though if you can get access to making one not a bad deal.

how can you guys call the rotory trash. the fd is actually very reliable its just because with twin turbo system and other things it causes lots of heat in the engine bay and the lack of knowlodge people have about the motor.
IE, in stock form it's a crappy motor but if you throw $10K at it to install a new turbo and some good tuning, it's really good.

Until you rebuild it, like Mr. ZX-10.

But then it's awesome again.

When the car is working properly, it's great. When the motor is in tip-top condition, it's great. When you're not filling up the gas tank, it's great.

It's just not in that state very often.

You know, though, it's funny. Not many people have knowledge about the engines in their cars but they don't spontaneously blow up on a 30K to 60K mile regular basis, either. They change the oil and filters and guess what? The engine keeps working properly! Think about it.

again, it's not the motor itself, Mazda knows how to rebuild a reliable rotary, it's all the supporting components, many of which were frail/cheap....they used plastic piping for the (undersized) IC and installed a plastic AST, for example, just stuff that makes you go "what were they thinking?"

my engine had about 65k trouble free miles on it before the rebuild, and it still had excellent compression at that point, I just cranked the boost up too much on a cold night and that was it

What don't you understand? Honda606 has seen ZX's penis up close and personal and was disappointed by its size.

I for one and not into crossbreeding one manf eng into another manf chassis

That being said 1923-1948 Fords should have been built with small block Chevy engine from the factory

......this has been the basis for Hot-rodding since the 50's so nothing new here ,hell there is even a company that has a kit to put the LS engine in Fox body Mustangs.

Not to got too far OT, but I wonder how a company like Hinson would handle an LSx swap into the s2000 chassis. Granted it's a completely different chassis but I bet their experience would really benefit the fit and finish in the end.

I used to love the FD, but at this point if I was going to swap an LSx into something, it would probably by an old Z car... those are classic, the FD is in that weird "dated" looking phase of life.

the black leather seats in my FD are tip top (a little driver's side bolster wear), they're much nicer than the cheap shit in the S
