LSx Conversion FD
an LS1 FD conversion is going to be far more relaible than any turbo S2000, that's a no brainer...it will also produce more hp at far less stress to the engine (and alot more torque)

Other than that all I can see is the insurance problems and what not. The 5% performance difference might not be worth all the trouble into such a project.
I am just saying this because an LS1 FD interests me, seems like it would be an amazing car--its just too bad its so difficult to make things like that livable on a daily basis, even if it is reliable, it may not be legal, and you may have to always worry about it being stolen and getting nothing back, etc. I guess its better suited for the guys that have something else to run to the grocery store and back.

I would have smoked any S with the stock engine and downpipe (and did, for seven years...I must have raced at least 20 S2000s and never lost)
why does anyone drive a fast car? it's a competitive spirit (combined with a sheer love of speed)....nothing wrong with that
the UNKNOWN factor is one of the enduring joys of driving an FD...people have all different perceptions of what the car can do (and they always underestimate it), which makes it all the more fun....I can't tell you how many Mustang and F body owners have remarked "WHAT do you have in that thing?"
who underestimates an S2000. G35, 350Z, or vette? they know EXACTLY what it can do, and can't do
the "lawnmower on crack"....loud, obnoxious, no cats....the very antithesis of a Beemer, the opposite of PC
the primary reason an LSx conversion doesn't interest me that much is V8s know their own tune

Competitive spirit? If I was the least bit concerned with what I have compared to others I'd take it to the track. I could care less if some guy's RX7 has a GTR motor in it. I could care less if it's faster or slower than my car, could really give 2 shits about it. I'm concerned with what I'm doing. Unless you are actually getting something tangible for being faster than another person, I just don't see the allure but whatever floats your boat. Maybe buy a Festiva and drop a serious motor in that, you'd be king of the streets.

The street is not a racetrack. Maybe things are different where you live, but here we don't live fast and furious.
i think many people dont understand what it is like to have a fast car. there is nothing like being one of the fastest cars in your neighborhood, city, or even state....even if you are getting nothing tangible, you are getting so much more....some get respect, some add ego, some get just a good feeling.
weather it be racing on the street or track, the feeling is the same. until you own a very fast car, you wont understand
