gotta love it when random, lazy minded people pop in at the end of the thread and spew tired claptrap that's already been covered multiple times
your post is the usual nonsense, with a bit different angle on the drama...yes, the stock FD has many supporting components that are prone to failure, but the rotary engine itself can be very robust if it is tuned/built correctly, and the body of knowledge continues to grow
again, I'd like to see an S do this:

Only good way to run to an FD is with an LS. I don't believe that buying/owning a sports car should force you to take a class or do a book report on why the engine (13B) sucks.
Everyone that says FD's are reliable base that off them having to do so much research on how the car should be made better after purchase. How many S2000 owners know "dick" about the car but never have reliability issues? Lots.

How much would say an entire job be roughly for something like that? I mean a clean installation, clean body, low mile LSx, etc?
Only big problem I see is insurance. With more power theres more change for a mistake, would you get back next to nothing for something like that...?
Also of course would it be legal? in California?

I have heard it said that you should never make any car into a racecar that you wouldn't be willing to push off of a cliff. I think the same applies to any project car.
if you want to have something rare you can't expect all of the same rules to apply. with that said, you can get a stated value insurance policy.

It's pretty expensive to do one in a FD (based off of the hinson subframe + cost of engine/tranny/ecu but no labor) but the FC is pretty cheap. I figure for under 10k, you can have a running LS1 FC, probably around 12k to knock out all the bugs, etc. and you have a car that runs 12s easily and doesn't lose the 50/50 weight balance.
