are you serious? have you driven both cars? you cannot say that you can compare an e92 335 to an e46 m3 and say what's the difference other than a badge. Not every aspect of an automobile relies on 0-60 and 1/4 mile times. Even though the e46 is slower and outdated and lacks the technologies found in the e92, it exudes a sheer driving experience, soul, passion, heritage, presence, etc that the e92 has no idea about. Yes, the e92 is an amazing car but drive even an e30 m3 from back in the days and u'll know what i'm talking about. That car is simply amazing.
People who don't know any better always crack me up with this stuff...blinded by the M badge. I own an E46 M3 and and E90 335i...both are modified and both are great cars but different. The M3 is more high strung...it handles ever so slightly better than the E90 in stock trim (speaking of E90 w/ SP) but you sacrifice comfort. The seats and almost everything else is better in the 335...it makes a MUCH better daily driver because of many reasons...torque, comfort and gas mileage to name a few. Maintenace on the M is substantially more expenisve out of the covered maintenance period and other than the bragging rights of owning an M really doesn't outshine the 335 in normal driving...in fact the opposite is true.

I have an E46 330i,(which I love) and have driven the E46 M3 many times, even a modded one at a tuner shop in Miami.

I would take a new 335 over a used E46 M3 any day of the week. You want a great performance "bargain"? Buy a new 335 sedan with only the sport package and slap a modified engine management program on it. Plug and play through the OBD with no permanent modifications. There are several to choose from.

If you are worried about warranty, you can overpay for Dinan's version and you get a matching 4yr/50k. All in, with the sport package + Dinan package you'll be around $43k or so, assuming no discounts. What do you get? 384hp and 421ft/lb torque! That would be 125 ft/lbs more than the NEW M3 in case you're keeping score....

I say drive em yourself. The E36's were light, E30's more so. I'd hardly call the E46's a lightweight car compared to the E92's.....and I wouldn't even consider for a millisecond an E46 of any kind that wasn't CPO'd or warrantied.

Wow you're even more annoying on here.

Do yourself a favor and don't try to act like a big boy, okay?

You hang around lotustalk (which is fine) but you talk like you know everything. The OP has been here for 7 years +, I'm sure he knows a little more than you.

Use the ignore function....

Pay the cost to be the boss is a old saying....and not mine. It's means that if you want to have nice things, you have to pay for them... theirs a time to be practical and frugal, but there are times that you have to pay for the finer things. Not everything has a "great deal" associated with it.

For the rest of your comments.... you have a pm.

Oh..IC.... time on the boards means you know more than the people your asking questions? That doesn't make sense.

I guess you know more than everyone with less time on the boards as you. Congratulations.

I'm not claiming to know more, I'm just not acting like I do.

I'm the last person to suggest that 7+ years as a member of S2Ki qualifies me as an expert on the E46 M3.
