Unfortunately, this is true. Go buy a used Mustang or Camaro and mod it up. Buy a $1000 Mustang, put $20K into mods and you'd have a God's chariot.

However, go here and ask instead: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showforum=142

I heard some guy was selling his 800rwhp S2000. But if I were you, I'd buy a $1000 Mustang and put $20-30K of mods into it.

Oh, 12.3 sec is mighty quick for having just 309whp.
Unfortunatly I aint realy into domestic muscle...Would love a c6 z06 though?

As for the 12.3x and the 309all wheel horse power. AWHP and RWHP are different beasts...My car trapped usually trapped around 112. Check out www.nasioc.com and you'll see plenty of fast Subies.

Either way you can't really say x amount of ponies is fast or slow for an ET. HP is really only a before and after tuning tool. A dyno operator can have the dyno print out whatever he/she wants.

LMAO!!! Wow, we all just gave this guy the WORST first impression of s2k drivers. Awesome, pure awesomeness.

Anyhow, making an s2k into a 12.3 car will cost you a FORTUNE. But I can guarantee driving a 14.0 s2k is probably more of an experience than your modded out WRX(and i do like those cars)
You really hit the nail on the head with the first impression!

It is nice to hear that the "driving expereince" would be nice. My WRX really drove well.

I guess i have to go test druve one!

Yeah its very hard to explain the experience. Yes in stock form the car is basically torqueless but its so much damn fun. Everything from a balanced car to a world-class gearbox. Go drive one!

Btw, dont pay any attention to 'Car Talk.' You gotta have some thick skin to hang around here for a while.

It is tame here, if you want to see how thick you skin is try a BMW forum.

Why did you own a WRX and are now looking into an S2k if all you care about is power and quarter miles?

what are your intensions for purchasing an s2k? you talk about 1/4 miles and the gives us the impression that's what you want to do with the s2k. you can do whatever you want with your car, but let it be known that it'll cost you 10x more than what you spent on your "power mods" in order to achieve similar results.

if you're looking for quarter-mile times you're not looking at the right car(s). ppl on here will flame you if your first comment about the s2k is that it might be a downgrade from 'xxxxxx' car b.c. of its quarter-mile time. clearly, s2k owners dont give a crap about quarter-mile times (and neither does honda!). so that's why you got flamed...

moving on... if you want a very fun car that is an absolute blast to drive in the twisties and very capable on the track in its STOCK form, then the s2000 is something you should consider. there are several ppl on here who have owned both the s2k and the wrx sti (check Car Talk), so you can get a good comparison, but in the end it simply comes down to what you want the car to do. despite similar performance #s on a track/twisties, the WRX is easier to push harder more safely. the s2k requires a bit more skill to drive faster (which is part of the fun, imo), but at the end of the day there is no doubt schumacher could get an s2k around MOST tracks faster than an STi -- the everday driver might fair better in a WRX since they take less skill to drive fast and are easier to push to the limit (read: "just spun the S", blah blah blah).

an ideal stable would have an STi and an S2000 -- they are different beasts but designed around a similar spirit and both are very good at what they were designed to do (aka, understeer like a pig and oversteer like a crackwhore).

Why'd you sell the WRX? 12.3 is damn fast. With your stated priorities a LS-motor Camaro (convertible if necessary) is a better fit.

Will I be happy with an S2000? What will it cost to make it a low 12 second car?
If you are looking for a 1/4 mile car the S is not for you!!!

If you want to step up from drags and start taking driving schools at a real track, the S2000 just might be the perfect car to consider.
