It became more of a general consumer car after the 2nd generation. I see the 3g Eclipses everywhere, every single day, which means they did sell quite a few of them. The 3g was quite popular I think, just not for enthusiasts. Still though, as a daily beater car I wouldn't care about, I'd wouldn't mind a 3g or 4g eclipse. I just never trusted the reliaibility of Mitsubishi after my nightmare experiences with my first car WAYYY back in the day, the Mitsubishi Starion. I had it as a daily in the early 90s, and as much as I loved that car, it broke down on me so many damn times, it became a project/weekend mod car, which made it even more of a nightmare. May the first car I ever owned (pic below) REST IN PEACE!!! Wonder if the guy who bought it ever turned it into a track car like he said.

The 4th gen weighed more than a rolls-royce, and the 3rd gen looked like a team of 1st graders designed it. I'm surprised mitsu didn't nix the eclipse out of shame 4 years ago.

Jesus, this is the first time I've seen first and second gen eclipse/talon described as "good" cars. They were certainly fast, and I haven't owned one to form an opinion. But it's funny how the opinion has changed when cranks were still walking away just a couple years ago.
