I dunno, I rather like the front end. Aggressive yet keeps the Miata family resemblance going. The rear taillights on the other hand could use some work. They don't seem to flow as well to me.

Wow, skip the miata, boxster, cayman, lotuses, goes straight to ferrari. Didnt realize the s2000 was that great.

I'm looking for an accord replacement, oh you should look into a Bentley continental, they have 4 doors and are unusually sporty for its segment.

 

Was just gonna say... steering feel is not a typical S2000 strong point. Quick and accurate steering yes. Communicative? One of my biggest complaints about the S2k.

 

The Flying Spur has 4 doors. Continental GT is 2 door car

I guess when I always drive the S2K, I feel like I can handle it well and the steering is quick and accurate....I suppose I thought that is what communication is, maybe I am a novice

 

Thanks for all the comments again, I will drive the Evora(if I can find one nearby) and may look at a Cayman. By looking at the figures on Miata, I dont think I can live with under 200hp. I guess when I was asking for a "modern 's2k'" I was hoping for upper 200-300+hp but still have the S2k driveability....any other suggestions?

 

HP isn't everything. Consider:

Evora = 3100lbs/280hp = 11.1 lbs/hp, 0-60 = 5.0sec, 1/4mi = 13.4s
S2000 is 2800lbs/240hp = 11.7 lbs/hp, 0-60 = 5.8sec, 1/4mi = 14.2s (everyone knows to get a time anywhere like this in a stock S you have to abuse the hell out of the diff launching above 6k rpms)
ND2 miata is 2300lbs/180hp = 12.8 lbs/hp, 0-60 = 6.0sec, 1/4mi = 14.4s

The big difference here is the torque.

The Evora peak torque is 258 lb-ft @ 4600 rpm.
The ND2 miata peak torque is 150 ft-lbs @ 6000 rpm.
An AP1 peak torque is 158 ft-lbs @ 7500 rpm.

Obviously, we have to work for our get-up-and-go a lot longer, lol.

Just as aside, the Toyota 3.5L in the Evora is the same as in my Toyota Sienna, although I believe Lotus tunes it out to 7000rpm. It's a great engine, awesome mid-range punch that I wish Toyota would let us rev out more cause its still pulling strong when you hit redline at 6200rpm.

The facelift 2009-2012 987 cayman s. They can be found for ~30-35k and you can still get an aftermarket warranty if you are worried about Porsche reliability/repair costs. These are phenomenal to drive and people love them. They are 3000 lbs and 290hp and the flat six is glorious with a linear powerband.
