They've been claiming a new rx7 for like 10 years. I'll believe it when I literally see it

At least it looks nice and has the power to back it up. I'm tired of all the nut swinger fan boys of the FRS/BRZ. But like AP2_S2K says, I'll believe it when I see it.

While I like what I see here, this is not the first time Mazda has shown images of what the next RX-7-8 would look like.
Can Mazda or anyone make a rotary that can meet MPG standards and make power?
I have doubts but I did take a picture of a unicorn with my D400 once...

Wow. Mazda certainly has made tremendous increases in technology and performance in the last 15 years.

Yeah such a fail in the power department. Put the ms3 motor in there and call it a day. Rotary should be left to die. Making these sports cars and still keeping them at 250 hp and under is ridiculous. Anything under 300 hp just feels terribly slow these days!
Should be almost as fast as a stock 2000 S2000 lol.

Not impressed either. Basically what the S2000 did 15 years ago? C'mon, at this point it should have close to 300hp.

BRZ is 20 years late. Yet car and driver loved it.

It doesn't seem the gen public cares much. Good looks and price seems to sell <$35k

I am excited because it means companies think there is demand. If they sell maybe they'll make 350hp sports cars we want.

For my DD street car, 250hp is fine with me. Most important to me is relatively light weight, 50/50 or more rearward weight distribution, rear-drive with IRS. And a fixed roof is a plus to me.

I still enjoy my stock s2k more than my 500+hp FD on the street. Big power is overrated for a DD street car.

As mentionedabove, a 350+hp optional powerplants would be cool, but I do think there should be a more modestly-powered and -priced base 250hp model.

Historically, turbo rotaries had a somewhat shorter lifespan than other designs.
