Maybe it's just the part of me that roots for the underdog, but this kind of pisses me off.

Why boo Nissan? They have a disagreement with an individual so they are letting the courts decide. That's how we do things in America. It beats pistols at 20 paces.

The reason to boo them is not because they want the some small insignificant company that doesn't even sell rmotely the same product to stop the copyright infrigment. It's because they want $10 MILLION from them.

Okay. I want $10,000,000 from you. If I'm right, a judge will agree with me. If not, he won't. You may think it's obvious, but considering you've heard exactly half the story, how do you know?

I have nothing against Nissan motor co. suing the computer company and making them change their name, because they did infact have it copyrighted. However I find it hard to believe that a small computer company could have caused a car manufacturer to lose $10 mil in buissness. And your right i don't know the story, but I am willing to wager that the computer company did nothing to hurt Nissans buissness in any way and they are just being assholes by bullying around a little company and making money in the process.

I dunno; when I think of "Nissan" I don't think of Uzi Nissan and his computer company. So, when I type "www.nissan.com" into my browser, I'd like to get Nissan cars, not Uzi Nissan and his computer company. I'd wager most people are like me, so who's being the asshole here? I say it's Uzi Nissan. Sure, it's his "right" to keep the name, but I'd wager Nissan (cars) offered to buy the domain and Uzi probably said stick it. So, hey, the courts are a good way to solve it.

Yes I agree with you. If Nissan copyrighted the name then sure they own it. But where the did they get the idea to sue him $10 mil from? The only way they deserve taht mony is if the computer co. took that away from them in buissness. And I highly doubt that someone planning to buy a car goes to nissan.com, sees it's a computer website they're looking at and decideds to buy a pc instead of the new maxima.

Like I said, Nissan (cars) can make any claim for damages they think is justified and a judge can decide.

I think a better question is how many people have gone to www.nissan.com, didn't get what they thought they would and went to www.toyota.com instead? Ten million dollars worth of people? I dunno; let a judge decide.
