You bought a 2nd FX for yourself because the wife could not transport the dog by herself. How is it that her 1 FX could not do the job, but now your 2nd FX can?
psychology my good man... our man johnston has really gotten old and tired of his S2000 and wanted to get something "softer"... so, not to risk banishment and ridicule, he cooked up a story of "buying his dog a car"... cause his wife couldnt load the dog... he himself gave the answer in his post... "he could load the dog in the morning for his wife and then pick "it" up himself"...

although its a rather amusing post... im still smiling... and the FX is a good car... so ole johnston is a-ok...

Just picked up an 05 FX35 AWD for the wife. I could not be happier with the purchase.

Person 1 in FX A takes dog to daycare in morning.
Person 2 in FX B picks up dog from daycare in afternoon.

For what it's worth, while I'm very attached to my S2000, personally I have greater emotional attachment to my pets than my car. I can get another MY00 S2000. I can't get other animals with the same personality as the ones I have now.

Good theory, but both you and Triple-H lack in the reading comprehension (or conceptualization) department. If I load the dog into my wife's SUV in the morning at our house, and my wife takes the dog to daycare in said SUV and retains possession of said SUV throughout the day, how will the dog get back into the wife's SUV at the end of the day when it comes time for the wife to pick up the dog at daycare (which is staffed exclusively by young girls/women who are no more capable of lifting my Newfoundland's heavy ass than is my wife) when yours truly is no where in sight? See the problem? The options were either A. I become solely responsible for transporting the dog in my wife's SUV, while she takes the S2000 to work, or B. we swap cars at lunch, which we did on Monday and which was a big pain in the ass, so that I can pick the dog up at the end of the day in my wife's SUV.

But, yes, I'm not crying in my coffee over the, hopefully, impending loss of the S2000. It's a great car and a ton of fun to drive, but it is not without its faults. I did, however, enjoy my time with both of my S2000s and will likely get some kind of sports car sometime in the future as a 3rd vehicle. That being said, if it wasn't for the dog issue, I'd replace the S2000 with a 335i, which was my intention before the wife became no longer able to get the dog in the car.

Anyway, interesting to read others' perspectives. There isn't a car on Earth for which I'd trade my dog. To each their own.

this just interests the hell outta me. i am in no way poking fun at the OP or anything to that effect, its just a very interesting thought to me.

i LOVE animals, LOVE dogs. i do however HATE cats. i love my lil guy(Boone is his name), he so happy to see me when i get home from work. he runs up to the top of the couch and jumps into my arms. he brings me a lot of joy. i bought him as a anniversary present for my wife and she loves him to death too.

but.....if someone walked up to me and said, "here is a BRAND new F430. its yours, just give us the wiener dog." id say my goodbyes with the lil guy and then dround my sadness with some 8k shifs in my new F430.

maybe im a heartless bastard, but as much as i love my Dog, i view him like i view my s2k. hes a possesion, a thing, something i bought. hes not life that my wife and i created, hes a dog. i do love him very much, but still hes a "thing."

^ To each their own. I understand your perspective, but, to us, our Lucy is a member of our family. She loves us unconditionally and without judgment (unlike lotsa people, perhaps), and we are obligated to take the best possible care of her. I'd be consumed with guilt/worry if I traded her to Joe Guido for his overpriced, mid-engined, ego-inflating machine (I'm kinda kidding here about the Joe Guido thing).

I wouldn't trade my animals for a car. And if someone f-d with them Joe Guido would be sent after them!

Spend some $$$ on obedience school for old Lucy. This way you can train her to hop in the car with a command. Or you could spend even less $ on a hickory stick & get her butt in the car micheal vick style.
