I can think of one that will go 0-60 in the 3's (very high 3's) with only 190 hp and some hoosiers on a pro solo launch.
Hehe...nice. But does that one have a power top? How about supple leather? A sick sound system? Any option a mere mortal would ever want in a DD and more??

One thing people are forgetting is the option of a LSD with the PDK - an option previously unavailable on American soil unless you stepped up to a GT3.
LSD was previously included on the Carrera S and 4S.

1st I like the car and would not mind owning it so the fanbois please hold back the fire....

Am I in the minority of still wanting a 3rd pedal? Granted it is slower by what seems to be a margin that will only grow as the systems get better and better. I just like the control and the feeling of learning the nuances of the car and etc...

Again nothing but praise for these systems as I am sure I will have one in my garage but I will have more 3 pedal cars for sure...

I'm actually pretty sure that it wasn't.

The Europeans had an option for a LSD as part of a sports package but this was unavailable in the states til the 997.5.

In fact, even the 4S, while having a center differential obviously, uses open differentials for both the front and the back.

There's always Qualife or Gaurds

It was my understanding the 911 platform doesn't really need one.

As I've said numerous times on this forum, I used to swear that I would never buy a car without a clutch pedal.

Then I drove an Evo X MR with the dual-clutch TC-SST. I bought it soon after.

I'm a convert. I'm not sure that I'd love every twin-clutch automanual, but the Evo's is just tuned to perfection.

Now, granted, the only twin-clutch automanual that I've driven so far is the TC-SST. I'd really like to try the PDK. It's not the mechanics of the transmission, because all of the boxes are similar. It's the software controlling them that makes all of the difference.

Oh, another thing that seems like it would suck on the PDK is that there are no paddles, just rocker buttons on the steering wheel. I like my F1-style paddles (- left, + right) on my Evo.

Oh absolutely not. I'm considering the Cayman S and I'm really conflicted about PDK. On one hand PDK is faster, more fuel efficient, and would let my wife drive my car (yes, that's a good thing). On the other hand, I'm quite certain that it would be less fun to drive. There are a bunch of people on the Cayman Forum that feel the same way... there's a huge outcry for Porsche to let the LSD be sold with the 6-speed rather than tying it to the PDK.

I never had any interest whatsoever in anything but a stick until DSG/PDK. It's the first system that is faster, more usable, *and* gives you the automatic operation mode. Now I just have to decide if I want a better car or a more fun one..... but I think in the end I'll opt for fun.
