I like the Prelude better. I am the original owner of a '98 Type SH. I used to have a '90 Integra LS coupe for about three years. The Integra, while practical as a hatchback, did not have door frames, so the interior got quite loud at freeway speeds. It's a fun sporty hatch.

The Prelude, on the other hand, has much more power and torque, handles better, and is a much more comfortable ride. I have not had problems with burning oil, but I did have problems with the ATTS. After nearly 75K miles, I still have the original clutch, brakes, and tranny! On a trip from the Bay Area to LA, I would take the Prelude over the Integra any day.

I would love it if Honda resurrected the Prelude and bumped up displacement to 2.4 or 2.5 liters with a proportionate increase in horsepower and torque.

For my 1998 Prelude Type SH:

weight = 3,042 lbs
MPG = city 23, highway 27, I think. (My car gets 23.01 MPG over its 75K-mile life. I know because I have tracked every single fill-up in a spreadsheet.)
HP = 195 (Models 1999 and after got 200 even.)
TQ = 156 foot-lbs, a HP:TQ ratio of 5:4 precisely
redline = 7400 RPM, I believe. VTEC engages around 5,100 RPM

I don't know about that. Preludes don't perform too well at the track. Integras seem to do much better. Preludes "feel better" on the road in terms of quick short corners on streets. But I'm willing to bet I can take a freeway entrance loop faster in a GSR [definately a Type R] than a Prelude.

Yeah guys thanks for the info! I'm gonna start looking for a Prelude to buy soon, unless a GSR is cheaper. Love the Prelude Pics, wish there were more!

"Only perfect-10 score for handling"

"...because it extends the driver's comfort zone on do-it-or-die corners..."

"Our editors griped that Honda's engineers waited too long to redo the Integra. The Prelude is the best Integra ever made."

nehoo.. i dunno about the base model but i'm sure a type-SH will definately out corner an integra... but i really have never heard anyone tell me an integra had better handling than a prelude (other than the type-R)... *shrug*

Well, even the Type-S in Japan doesn't hang with a Type R. There's plenty of videos showing that the Lude doesn't do well at the track in comparison to other cars in it's class. It may have a bit more torque, but the Integra is a bit better around the corners. If this car isn't going to be your top-dog sporty car, then go with a Prelude. It's comfortable for daily driving and agile enough to have fun. If you plan to fix up this car and make it something fast all around, go with an Integra GSR or Type R. I love the Prelude without a doubt; I paid the good money to own one. But it's bulkiness can definately be felt on the road.

Of course, an S2000 would be the prime choice.
