Gee, I guess "Toyota quality" means "kinda crappy." :/

You're talking about its legendary "crapability" there! It's that kind of "crapability" that will take the company to the top.
Now, here's the real issue: should I buy Ford's stock right now? It's at almost an all-time low ($7.66). I mean, if I bought some right now, what does the future hold for Ford? Btw, Toyota's stock is at $92 (approaching an all-time high). To buy or not to buy? That is THE question!

Toyota OBVIOUSLY makes a good product, but they apparently have been sitting on their well-earned laurels a bit too much and industry rumors are that it's slipped a little bit in quality over the past few years.
Of course, in Toyota's defense, they have been crapping out more cars than ever and whenever production goes WAY up, quality will invariably come down a little bit.
No car company is immune to problems. With some notable exceptions, MOST car companies have become fairly close in overall quality and reliability, certainly enough to fall within statistical deviation.
