Recently I found a local 2001 Z06 for sale and I was wondering if it's very different from the 02+'s?

I know there is a 20hp and 20 torq difference, but that I'm ok to overlook, my question really is towards the suspension and other aspects of handling. What differences (if any) are there between the 405 z06 and the 385?

If anyone knows of any other differences and can share with me I'd much appreciate it (including interior/HUD differences).

Also for any major changes it is easily overlooked or modified to be the same?

some 01s had an oil burning problem and you can get a re-ring done under warranty. Other than that, there is nothing else to worry about.

The power output is negligable. For $50, you can have the 01 make as much if not more power as an 02-04.

I'd stick with the 02+ for the HUD alone.

 

Thats the one reason I dropped the 01 from my list.........the HUD. Its a must have.

Some of the 01s had the oil problem. Some of those have been re-ringed. And Kumar is correct, the HP difference is negligible. It doesnt take much to pull an 01 up to 02 specs.

Overall, your call. I think the 02 and up are definitely more attractive (from a purchase point of view), but if youre going to mod the hell out of the car, you may as well get an 01.
